Indian Bank Statement
PDF Password — All Banks
Every major Indian bank sends monthly account statements as password-protected PDFs. The password formula varies by bank — most use your date of birth in DDMMYYYY, some prefix it with a Customer ID or account number. Find your bank below for the exact format and a free unlock tool.
Common Bank Statement Password Patterns
Most straightforward — just your date of birth in day-month-year order with leading zeros.
Example: 05121988
Customer ID (6-7 digits, found on passbook or net banking) followed immediately by DOB DDMMYYYY. No separator.
Example: 1234567805121988
Last 4–6 digits of account number followed by date of birth. Exact digit count varies by bank.
Example: 12345605121988 (last 6 of account + DOB)

What to Do If the Password Doesn't Work
- 1
Confirm the date format
Must be DDMMYYYY with leading zeros and no separators. 5 January 1988 is 05011988 — not 5/1/1988 or 05-01-1988.
- 2
Use the registered date of birth
The DOB must match what is recorded at the bank — not your Aadhaar or PAN DOB if they differ. Check your account opening form or call the bank to verify.
- 3
Try the alternative format
Some banks accept multiple formats. ICICI accepts both the last 4 and last 6 digits of account number + DOB. HDFC sometimes accepts a 7-digit Customer ID. See the bank-specific guide for all known variants.

Download a fresh copy from net banking
Statements emailed years ago may have been generated with a different password policy. Download a fresh statement from your bank's app or net banking and try the current format.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why are Indian bank statement PDFs password-protected?
Banks password-protect emailed statements to protect financial data in transit. Since email is not end-to-end encrypted, a password-protected PDF ensures only the account holder can open it. The RBI has recommended this practice as a security baseline for sensitive financial documents sent electronically.
What is the most common bank statement PDF password in India?
Date of birth in DDMMYYYY format is the most widely used formula. Over half of major Indian banks — including Axis Bank, Bank of Baroda, Union Bank, and IDFC FIRST — use this pattern. HDFC and Kotak prefix it with a Customer ID. ICICI and SBI prefix it with the last digits of the account number.
How do I find my HDFC Customer ID for the statement password?
Your HDFC Customer ID is the 6-digit number shown on your passbook, on your HDFC NetBanking login screen, or in the "Profile" section of the HDFC mobile app. It is not the same as your account number. Once found, combine it with your DOB in DDMMYYYY — for example, 12345605121988.
Does the bank statement password change every month?
No. The password formula is always the same — it is based on your date of birth and account/customer ID which are static values. The only way it changes is if you update your registered date of birth in the bank's records.
Can I permanently remove the password from my bank statement PDF?
Yes. Use this tool: upload the PDF, enter the correct password for your bank (found on the guide page for your specific bank above), and download an unlocked copy. The unlocked PDF opens without any password and can be stored, shared, or printed freely.
Which Indian banks are not covered here?
This guide covers the 11 largest banks by account holder base. Smaller regional banks, co-operative banks, and rural banks typically also use date of birth in DDMMYYYY format. If your bank is not listed, try your DOB in DDMMYYYY first — it works for most Indian banks.
